Issue #6

A weekly newsletter dedicated to reimagining investment management.

This post on X is consistent with my experience of eight years with an investment bank and ten years in hedge funds.

I understood that my investment bank, which had made many acquisitions and prioritised bonuses over infrastructure, would have spaghetti IT systems.

Moving to the buy side, I expected the technology to be pretty slick. You raise capital, you invest the capital, and you report the results. Not hard.

But noooooooooo.

It is worse, with less investment.

This creates a generational opportunity for new investment management firms to build their technology stack (taking advantage of open-source software) from the ground up to create an unassailable cost advantage.

At Noviscient, we are targeting the limit of a frictionless, costless digital operating model for funds.

Podcast on Catalyst Hedge Fund Marketing

  • Bringing fund management into the 21st using a 'digital operating model.'

  • How managers can launch in 1 month vs. 6-12 months.

  • Common mistakes fund managers should avoid.

  • Why fund managers need to 'get going' ASAP.

  • How a digital model benefits both investors and fund managers.
